New Year, New Hair

Oh! Hello, my loves! You like the new look?! *Heehee*

I’ve been contemplating a change for a while now, and cutting my hair into a short bob felt like the perfect way to hit refresh. Let me tell you—it was the best decision I’ve made for my look in years. For my birthday last year, I got a sew-in—which was beautiful—I loved it, but then I noticed I started to reminisce on my healthy hair back in 2017-2021. I used to take such good care of my hair and it was flourishing. Sadly, I got lazy and stuck to a go-to look of mine; the high bun + low bun style. That wasn’t doing much for my hair at all. Looking at old photos and videos and seeing the health and length of my hair made me want to start all over again. I had a lot of split ends, and you could see the breakage. Baby, it was time for it to go!!!

First weekend of January, I cut it to about shoulder length—blunt and simple. (I wish I had before and after photos to share. 🥺) I did my regular hair-care routine: wash, condition, nourishing mask, heat protectant, blow dry, flatiron, curl, add lightweight oil, and wrap. During that week, I felt it wasn’t doing much for me, so the following weekend I decided to go shorter. I found so much inspiration on Instagram and TikTok—my mom got her scissors and went to chopping, lol. My hair now hits a little below my jawline and I love it! This is the first I’ve ever cut my hair this short, and since I’m on a new hair journey, this would obviously be the perfect time to do so. I have a lot of greys, and you can see them peeking through. Some days, I want to dye my hair jet black, yet I want to love on my greys. Well, I’ll leave it for now, but we’ll see what the future holds. This length bob looks so good in a middle-part, but it EATSSSS in a side-part, honey! Wheeewww! I feel more grown and mature for my age now. Like, this suits me so well and I’m here for it.

I’m currently testing out some new products on my hair to see what it loves from what it doesn’t. Listen, TikTok has a huge influence on me with the purchases I’ve made, lol. I just might have to slow it down and go back to the basics. The products I used back in the day did it for me. I promise once I get this together, I’ll be sure to share with you guys. As for tools, I’ve been using my Paul Mitchell Nuero Smooth flatiron—it’s a beast, and to curl, I use an old curling iron from Hot ‘n’ Gold.

After sharing my cut, I’ve seen so many of you booking your appointments—I love to see it! Change is good. Sometimes, a simple haircut can feel like a fresh start. If you’ve been thinking about making a change, consider this your sign to go for it! <3
